On Monday February 8, E-Alliance hosted two simultaneous webinars – one in English and one in French – to introduce the group’s approach to intersectionality. This event was the first in an ongoing virtual series that will discuss key components of E-Alliance work.

“The goal of these webinars is to expand our audiences for these important conversations      central to our work and improving gender+ equity in sport,” says E-Alliance Research Associate Dr. Debra Kriger. “It was encouraging to see so many of our peers and members of the community join us for the discussion.” More than 100 people registered for the French and English webinars.

These sessions will help to support the E-Alliance mandate to share cutting-edge research into gender+ equity in sport to a broad, diverse community.

The webinar was led by Dr. Kriger on behalf of the Operationalizing Intersectionality Working Group and reviewed: E-Alliance’s commitments; discussed the definition of intersectionality; introduced E-Alliance’s operationalizing intersectionality working group; their framework for operationalizing intersectionality and its uses. The webinar wrapped up with an open discussion inviting participants to pose questions and add to the conversation.
